His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam stresses that the country need to always be aware of the international geopolitical turmoil and its effects on global economic challenges.


His Majesty emphasises that Brunei Darussalam is also not exempted from the effects of these challenges, especially if the effect jeopardises the price of the energy commodity that is the country's source of revenue. Hence, His Majesty in the titah urge for a more aggressive implementation as well as resilience in drafting national development policies and strategies, specifically towards the Wawasan Brunei 2035 goals. In a titah in conjunction with the State Opening of the First Meeting of the 22nd Session of the Legislative Council, 12th March morning, His Majesty also stresses on several matters, among them, the need for development to be balanced with prudent spending, and the Government not tolerating corruption. His Majesty began the titah by expressing gratitude to Allah as by His grace, it was possible for the State Opening of the First Meeting of the 22nd Session of the Legislative Council to commence for 2026.
